Welcome Everyone To The 2011-2012 Jiminy Peak Racing Team Season!
We had an incredible season last year, with many speedsters and their families discovering the joy, thrills and fun of the wonderful world of Alpine Ski Racing. Last year was an amazing season for our newest athletes and seasoned vets. We were blessed with abundant snowfall, moderate temperatures, and incredible big hill training throughout the year, all of which resulted in a memorable season.
I’m sure that the athletes and their parents were with pleased with the remarkable improvement that we coaches saw across the board with all of our Jiminy Peak racers. Many of our athletes qualified in unprecedented numbers for various post season events, sending out the message that the Jiminy Peak Racing Team is a force to be reckoned with. Most gratifying to me was the sheer enjoyment that so many kids seemed to derive from the sport. It was a pleasure to see them mastering the finer points of skiing and ski racing, while having such fun and making and developing such great friendships. It was also wonderful to see so many parents on the hill enjoying themselves as much as their children did. I can’t wait to get back on the hill for the 2011-2012 season!
We are expecting another fantastic season, and have been hard at work improving our program. Registrations have been coming in steadily, and the coaches are all raring to go. This weekend I will be attending the USSA Eastern Summit at Killington. The Summit is a program designed by USSA Eastern and offered for the first time to educate coaches, athletes and parents in the latest in techniques and opportunities for ski racers. It is open to anyone who wants to attend. Just go to the USSA East website if you want further details at http://www.ussaeast.com/?page_id=112
Keep tuned to our fantastic website (courtesy of our resident genius website designer Robert Santore) for further updates throughout the season. We will be posting weekly training plans and other updates on the website throughout the pre-season and season.
I will see you all soon. THINK SNOW (hard, fast, race condition snow, that is)
